Glam Junk Christmas

I know I have not posted in a while but, I wanted to share my house with you for Christmas. So, I will start with the most important thing, the Christmas tree. I just love the gold and rust colors, and if you know me at all you know that I love everything in my house to match. So, you will be seeing lots of golds, rusts and sparkle ! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The wreath in front of the family room fireplace, kind of simple but I still like it. And, on the kitchen table just a simple arrangement that my daughter put together with pine cones, candle and ornaments in a big gold bowl.
On to the dining room. I tied bows around all the chairs, Angels on the table and some beautiful globes I picked up last year. I almost forgot I had them...Okay, I did forget I had them and was pleasantly surprised when I found them in a cabinet...
Here is a closer picture of the globes. Of course I am partial to Angels. There is an Angel in one globe, and a small Nativity scene in the other. I have a ton of them on the tree and everywhere else in my house. I happen to leave a lot of the Angels out all year long.
At my entry way, I have an old fashioned Santa, some beautiful glitter candles and a beautiful floral arrangement.
Here is a closer picture of the floral arrangment with gold sparkle Poinsettia's and if you look close you can see the glitter candle in the background. Oh and of course an Angel.
Another close up of my floral arrangement. I just love the Gold Pointsettia's....
On the formal living room coffee table I have a bowl of ornaments, and a larger Santa and hmmm, do I see more gold sparkle candles? Of course I do. In the background you can see my wonderful stockings.
A little closer view of my stockings...gold beading and white velvet. I love them! Don't you love how the ends curl like they belong on a little elf !
Another tree, in the formal living room. It's not a big tree but it's packed full of goodness! Lots of gold, rust and a beautiful ribbon on top.
Another view of the entryway of my house.
And just one more picture of the entryway.
I hope you have enjoyed my little tour. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Glam Junk Truck

I was just too happy to find this vintage 1965 Dodge Truck online....so happy that we bought it at 10:00 PM and got up at 3:00 AM and drove 257 miles to get it. We didn't get home until 5:30 PM and boy was I tired. Over 500 miles to get this truck back home and it took extra long since it's only a 3 speed....you know and old three on the tree...! So glam huh?!?
Is this not the perfect vintage truck to go to a flea market...? You know you want one too..
I am loving the interior colors. It's almost a robins egg blue...It just looks so vintage. And it's a long bed so I can fit all kinds of neat stuff in it....flea market here I come!

More Covington Louisiana

While we were in Covington we took a short trip back across Lake Ponchartrain to the French Quarter in New Orleans. We stopped at a beautiful store called Rendezvous Linen and Lace. I thought you might like to look inside. In the entry there is a beautiful chandelier that I couldn't help but stare at. I'm lucky I didn't walk into something while I was staring. I was truly in awe.
Further in the shop there was tons of Linen and Lace. I was in heaven. The store smelled wonderful too. Like a garden of roses. I could have stayed in their forever. But, I wanted to see more.

The wall was painted with roses which were so beautiful. Truly it was one of those stores you could spend hours in just looking at everything.
But, I had so much more to show you. Back in Covington, the businesses are in old homes. Here is one of the beautiful businesses. That would make it easier to go to work everyday wouldn't it? Other homes in the neighborhood, look just as beautiful.
Another business for you to see.
And one of my favorite pink and white houses. I just love the gingerbread shingles on the front. It reminded me of a gingerbread house...only more shabby chic...!

My Trip to Covington

Recently, I went to Louisiana for a work related trip and I wasn't thrilled until I drove across the Lake Ponchartrain causeway and came to a wonderful town called Covington. I liked Covington so much I decided to share a little bit of it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I stopped at a little Antique shop in Covington. I was lucky enough to get to be there for their Art Walk where the street is blocked off and all the shops on the street have an open house type sale. They have wine and appetizers for you when you come in. Wine and antiques, how can you go wrong?

Doesn't the front door just make you want to live there? Just wait, there's more...Just down the street you'll find the English Tea Room. How great is this car out front? I want one!
The Inviting front of the English Tea Room. Makes you want to have a cup doesn't it?

A New Blog For Sale with domain name

This is probably one of my favorite blogs that I have designed....It includes a free year registration of the domain http://www.shopdropandblog.com/ which makes it easier for everyone to remember your blog name. No more fussing with the .blogspot.com extension. Check it out and let me know what you think. Go to http://www.shopdropandblog.com/ to see for yourself. The photo was taken by me a few months ago and then tweaked a little bit to make it kind of look like a painting. Okay, if no one buys it I just might have to keep this one for myself....hurry, before I change my mind LOL...!

Vintage Purses and other GLAM JUNK

Some glamorous things I have collected in the past year. A black and red beaded vintage bag with a red velvet bag in the background. I am just loving the pearl opera glasses too...So Glam!

Here are some more glamorous vintage purses. Don't you love the beaded flower design? How beautiful is that?

And again, last but not least...a small sampling of my vintage glam hat pins in my own version of a hat pin holder made of a vintage sugar shaker...

Some of my favorite pictures

Is my dad not the cutest thing you have ever seen? I love this picture. It makes me wish I had a house with
a porch like this somewhere out in the country... I can just imagine sitting on the porch reading a book, hmmm maybe in a rocking chair, slight breeze, glass of ice tea....yep, I wish I was there.

This picture is my dad with his cousin Nick. They grew up more like brothers than cousins so I actually call him my Uncle Nick. Aren't they just the best? They look like they could be a handful don't they....? Come to think of it...my Uncle Nick is still quite a character....I'll tell you more about him later.

And last but not least...this is my grandfather and grandmother. Unfortunately I never met my grandmother, she died when my dad was only four years old. Aren't they beautiful... they really look like an awesome couple. I just love the hat and the suit my grandfather is wearing. By the way, when did people stop dressing like this? I think I should have been born in another time. The twenties and thirties were made for me.. It is glam at it's best. They didn't have much, didn't need much, didn't ask for much and yet don't they look happy...oh, and glamorous...!

Vintage Watch Faces Made Fabulous Again

Just look at the new life that was brought to these vintage watch faces. Both are made from Bulova watch faces and are completely adjustable. They are so adorable. I happen to love vintage watches. I started collecting them at the Brimfield Antique show about eight years ago. If they work that makes it all the better, but I still love them if they don't. I'll post a few of them later on for you to see including the one I brought to the jeweler to fix. He brought up the fact that the watch was older than he was. It is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure you will agree.
